18 November 2009 |
Soul Train singers David and Danny entertained the children and staff of Calderwood Lodge Primary School and Nursery to a lively Rosh Chodesh treat with music, storytelling, and a Chanukah quiz. From the very beginning of their performance, the children watched entranced as David and Danny sang and talked their way through their act and readily joined in the familiar Israeli songs and quickly learned a couple of new ones. |
|
Near the end of the concert, four Primary One pupils were so caught up in the moment , they spontaneously stood up, joined hands and began a circle dance, prompting the whole school, including the Nursery children to form their own circles, rivaling any Simchat Torah Assembly! |

The music continued to inspire pupils and staff to the extent that Pauline, our fairly new Catering Manager was caught up in the ever-expanding Conga which broke off
in different directions as the music matched their enthusiasm. All in all, a beautiful experience for all concerned. |
The applause died down and the guests were thanked for their wonderful performance. When it was mentioned that they were on their way to visit other communities throughout Scotland and would be returning to Giffnock for a concert next Monday night, several of the upper-school pupils chorused that they would be there with their Guide Captain and it was evident that they were really looking forward to another round of music and dance. |
While packing their instruments away, Danny commented that "the children of Calderwood are the sweetest". |
