Community Engagement and Events Manager!

24 August 2023

Welcoming Demi, SCoJeC’s New Community Engagement and Events Manager

In an exciting development for SCoJeC's communal engagement, we are pleased to announce the appointment of Demi Franks as our new Community Engagement and Events Manager. Demi brings with her a wealth of experience in events production, community engagement, and arts facilitation.

Originally from Manchester, Demi graduated from the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire and has worked as a producer for theatres and production companies in both Manchester and in London, most recently as the Creative Producer at Manchester Jewish Museum.

Demi brings a fresh perspective to SCoJeC's goal of representing, connecting and supporting Jewish people throughout Scotland, her experience, combined with her enthusiasm for creating events aimed at connecting communities, aligns perfectly with our objectives.

Demi says “I am really excited to join the SCoJeC team and re-invigorate Scotland’s engagement and events programme. I am very much looking forward to getting out there and meeting the diverse community in Scotland, whilst organising and facilitating some exciting, fun and original events.”

Commenting on her appointment, SCoJeC Director Ephraim Borowski said "We're really delighted to have someone with Demi's extensive experience of organising and running events join our team, especially at this crucial time when the community has to learn to rebuild and reconnect after Covid.  With this appointment, together with our synergy with the Glasgow Jewish Representative Council, SCoJeC is going to be in a better position to connect and support, and thereby better to represent, Jewish people in Scotland, so watch out for a variety of live, on-line, and hybrid events of all kinds coming to a venue or screen near you shortly."

SCoJeC Chair Nicola Livingston added “We’re excited to have Demi as part of our team, and look forward to more of the fresh and youthful perspectives that she’s already bringing to SCoJeC! As we look towards the new era of events, I’m pleased that SCoJeC will be able to offer spaces for dialogue, learning, and celebration through our events and community engagement plans.”

Keep an eye on What’s On to find out what Demi has planned in Glasgow, Edinburgh, and across the whole of Scotland, working with local organisations where possible. The first will be a Klezmer concert – full details will be available soon!
