Hits on SCoJeC's website in 2014 have passed the million mark already, with a month still to go!
The trend has been continuously upwards since we launched the site in 2006, but the sudden leap from 677 800 in 2013 came as a surprise. The main contributor to the huge increase was in August and September, when the most significant news items related to the surge in antisemitic incidents in Scotland. Traffic almost doubled from around 78 000 hits per month in June and July to more than 140 000 for those two months, before stabilising at around 100 000 in October and November. Hits on the new CoNNeCT discussion forum showed a similar pattern, rising from around 15 000 hits per month to 53 600 in August.
These increases are not just the result of habitual visitors looking at the site more often. Monthly unique visitors also more than doubled from 4127 in July to 8596 in August, and are now around 6000; and the number of pages viewed per visit has also risen from around 5.5 to around 6.5.
